David Rudolph Klein

David was born May 26, 1957 to Pauline (Rath) and Robert Klein at Milford Hospital. David was educated though the Medway, Massachusetts education system graduating from Medway High School in 1975. David continued his education at Northeastern University graduating with honors in 1980 with a Bachelors’ of Science in Business Administration.

David worked part time throughout high school and college at Fernandes Super Market. David began his professional career November 1980 at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company and post-merger with MetLife until November 2000. David finished his professional career as an auditor\compliance officer at CompurterShare until his injury in December 2017.

As a bachelor, David was an active sports fanatic both as a spectator and player. His favorite sport was baseball and he was a devoted member of Red Sox Nation, even during the numerous losing seasons when the team was nicknamed The Stink-A-lots”. In addition to baseball David was an avid golfer, skier, softball and volleyball player. When not playing sports, David loved traveling with his high school friend Billy Davis and friend Francis Sullivan. This threesome’s favorite memory was drinking all the beer at the 59 Beer Garden in Munich during on one of the many Oktoberfests they attended.

David’s bachelor days ended when his friendship with Mary Beth Dorsey metamorphosed into a deep love. They married civilly November 19, 1995 at the Cohasset Lightkeepers House. On September 29, 1996 they were religiously married at St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate.

Footloose and fancy free until the birth of their daughter Rose Marie Klein on June 22, 1998 at New England Medical which since has been renamed Tufts Medical Center. Returning to her roots Rose currently works as a Labor and Deliver Nurse at Tufts.

As a family of three, David was an active and hands on dad who was the ultimate “Girl Dad.” He participated with enthusiasm playing with dolls, having tea parties, watching Disney Princess movies, dressing up for Halloween, and 15 years as a Dancing Dad. David was an avid cheerleader fan and role model for kindship, teamwork and compassion which are life’s important lessons. On the practical side David made sure Rose knew how to mow the lawn, use the snow-blower, the importance regular oil changes, and general car maintenance.

David enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and many happy memories were made during both national and international travel. Free time in the Scituate summers were spent at Minot Beach where David was the chief prankster to Rose, his nieces and nephews, and the neighborhood kids. Winter was sledding, ice skating, shoveling, and building snow-families.

David was an active member of St. Mary of the Nativity Parish and volunteered within its various ministries. David was also very proud of his Brotherhood in the Scituate Knights of Columbus – Council #3716 where he served as Treasurer for many years. David loved being a Knight and participating in their events, he was an expert at putting up the tents with the correct color coded ties much to the chagrin of some of his brothers who weren’t as meticulous as he was.

To all that knew David he was a fun, kind, compassionate and always willing to offer a helpful hand. David was selfless and quick witted and entranced those who knew him. It was often commented “the mold was broken when David was born”

Most importantly during the past eight years as a resident of Royal-Norwell David received excellent care from the devoted staff of every department – Food Services, Facilities, Laundry, Office Staff, Activities, Occupational & Physical Therapies, the CNAs and Nurses. David was cared for as a cherished family member which provided great comfort for those who loved David. David was beloved by the staff at Royal of Norwell and passed peacefully with one of his favorite nurses, Sue, at his bedside.

David was preceded in death by his parents Pauline (Roth) and Robert Klein, his beloved Grandmother Marie “Oma” Klein, his father in law Terrence Dorsey and his cherished friends Michael and Mary Mele (Medway). David is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth (Dorsey), daughter Rose Marie, his brother Paul and Sandra Klein (Blackstone) and Peter Klein and his partner Lisa LeLavelle (Medway). His in-laws Catherine and Christopher Gover, Maureen and Donnie Carrier, Ellen and Anthony Correia III, T. Christopher and Crystal Dorsey and Brendan Dorsey. David was a beloved uncle to Grace, Joseph and Megan Gover, Brenna and Padrig Carrier, Bridget (McEvoy) Emily and Anthony IV Correia and Jocelyn Dorsey.

A visitation will be held on Sunday August 30, 2026 from 3pm-7pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday August 31, 2026 at 11am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
