Diane Marie Haufler Miers

Diane Marie (Haufler) Miers 68, passed away at home on July 9, 2014. Born in Boston to the late Attorney Robert and Elizabeth Haufler, Diane grew up in Scituate and resided in Marshfield with her loving husband of 41 years, G. Stephen Miers.

Diane was a schoolteacher of 34 years in the Marshfield Public Schools retiring from the South River Elementary School. Together with her husband Steve, Diane was a real estate developer of several properties including the Pem-Marsh Plaza in Pembroke, where she owned and operated The Donut Tree for many years.

Always a planner, Diane’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends and coordinating helping other people and causes. The friendliest person, Diane would go out of her way to talk to people and was truly interested in their lives. Diane will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know her for her generous heart, beautiful smile, humor and caring ways.

Diane was the loving and devoted mother of G. Stephen Miers of Marshfield and Chris Robert Miers of San Francisco, California; proud grandmother of Victoria, Elizabeth, and Stephen. Dear sister of Attorney Robert Christian Haufler, Elizabeth MacKay and her husband Attorney Michael J. MacKay, and Judith Haufler Cunha and her husband Robert D. Cunha, all of Marshfield; Also survived by several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Respecting Diane’s request visiting hours will be omitted and a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 16th at St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St, Scituate at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148, Tribute #19387518, where Diane devotedly donated monthly for more than 33 years.
