Dorothy A. (Zinke) Walbridge, 79, of Scituate and Dorchester, passed away on July 9, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Kenneth Walbridge, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.
Dottie was born in 1946, the daughter of the late Frederick P. and Dorothy J. (Kowalik) Zinke, and grew up in South Boston and Dorchester, graduating high school from Hyde Park High in 1964.
She was a Gillette Company retiree, having worked there as a secretary in the early 1970s and again in the 1990s and 2000s.
Both before and after retirement, Dottie loved to camp, which she and Richard did extensively throughout the United States and Canada — starting in the 1970s with their children alongside them, and continuing into their post-retirement years on their own in their Airstream trailer. Dottie was a devoted member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (the Airstream RV owners association), where she served as both president and vice president of the Cape Cod, MA Unit, and as a national and regional caravan leader who planned and led caravans of Airstream owners across the U.S. and Canada. Along with helping Richard edit the monthly newsletter, she managed the unit's website for many years. But she was most proud of her role as designer and manager of the Cape Cod Unit Directory, where she got to put her artistic and design talents to use — even winning awards for her work at the international level.
Dottie also loved the ocean, spending many days sunning, boating, and fishing at Popponesset Beach on the Cape as a child, and later in Scituate when her own children were young. An avid crafter — and a talented artist, though she would always deny it — Dottie became a scrimshaw artisan in the 1970s and '80s, and in her later years picked up beading and jewelry making. She was also fast with a crochet hook. Dottie and her good friend Marguerite Poste ran the crafts classes at Traveler's Rest in Dade City, Florida, where she spent many winters later in life.
But above all, Dottie loved a good laugh. Whether she was socializing with her Gillette work friends, gathering around the campfire with her camping friends, or sitting at the dining room table with her family, she knew how to enjoy the moment and appreciate the people in her life.
Dottie was deeply devoted to her family and immensely proud of her children and granddaughter. She is survived by her two children: Lisa Scuccimarra and her husband, Kristopher (Kris) Scuccimarra, of New York; and Rick Walbridge, Jr., and his longtime partner, Fernanda Deavan, and her son, Josh, who held a special place in Dottie's heart. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Hadley Wren Scuccimarra, who was the light of her life.
Dottie is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 3:00–7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14th, at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA 02066.
