FORBES, Edward Donaldson Jr. ~ Age 79, of Scituate, passed away on October 19, 2022 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis M. (Hennessy) Forbes, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, Ed was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Salisbury) Forbes. He was a 1961 graduate of Hyde Park High School and went on to serve in the US Navy on the USS Saratoga. After serving his country, Ed earned a degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was the owner of a very successful HVAC business for 44 years until his retirement in 2017.
After his retirement, Ed discovered a joy of reading books. He served as House Chairman for the Hatherly Country Club for 9 years. Ed had many passions including traveling, tennis, racquetball, fishing, boating, and golfing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Ed was a Patriots season ticket holder for 30 years and cherished bringing his children then grandchildren to the games. He especially loved spending days at his second home on Marco Island, Florida, golfing at Hatherly Country Club or the Island Club on Marco Island, where he was a proud member of the “F” troop.
Ed was the devoted father of Lisa Flynn and her husband John of Scituate, Brian Forbes and his wife Meghan of Marshfield and Michelle Forbes and her husband Michael Bearce of Scituate. He was the best grandpa to Matthew and Sydney Flynn, Kayla, Alexandra and Brian Jr. Forbes and Emma, Joseph and Addison Bearce. Beloved brother of Linda Herr and her husband Joe of Canton. He is also survived by many dear friends, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. There is not a person Ed encountered who didn't love him and appreciate his passion for life and the love he had for his family.
Please join us by sharing your memories of Ed during a celebration of life at Hatherly Country Club on Saturday October 29th between the hours of 12pm and 3pm. Ed would want us all to be together “doing the best that we can”. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Ed's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (P.O.
