Frances Jacobs

Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (nee Kenihan) O'Connor. Loving mother to Michele (Michael) Crowley, Scott, Tom (Linda), and Kyle (Magali). She was the devoted grandmother to Patricia (Curt), Julie (Chris), Tom (Kristin), Chivon (Matthew), Abigail, Robert and Mariah (Derek). She was great-grandmother to Eleanor, Gregory, Adeline, Allison and the newest addition, Caroline, with another great-grandchild on the way. Beloved sister to Patricia Deeghan and her husband the late James Deeghan, the late Rita Hoyt and husband, Donald Hoyt, the late Mary Catherine Lindsey and her husband, Clifford. Fran loved her nieces, nephews, cousins and will be greatly missed by all.

Fran was a retired teacher in the Scituate Public School system where she taught for almost 40 years. She loved her work as a special education teacher and worked passionately every day to advocate for her students. She was involved in the Special Olympics throughout her teaching career and continued after retirement when she was inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame in Massachusetts. She was involved with St. Mary's CCD. Fran loved "keeping her foot in the door" by volunteering in many local programs including Friends of Scituate Commission on Disabilities, Scituate Camp Fire Girls, the Band Boosters, Scituate Etrusco and the Scituate Historical Society. Fran was most happy close to the ocean; the Jersey Shore and Scituate beaches were some of her favorites. She enjoyed spending many fun weeks at the beach with her family.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11, 4pm-8pm from Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, SCITUATE. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 12, at 10am from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Committal service at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 P.M.
