Kelly, George Leo, Age 93, long-time resident of Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 9, 2018. Loving husband of 57 years to the late Mary Margaret (Maitland) Kelly. Only son of the late John L. and Helen (Carroll) Kelly. Beloved father to Maureen Kelly Anderson, her husband Stephen of Plymouth, MA, and Richard J. Kelly of Scituate, MA. Cherished grandfather to Philip Anderson of Clinton, MD, David Anderson of Scituate, MA, and Laura Anderson of Braintree, MA.

George, affectionately known to all as “Papa,” was born on January 16, 1925, in Peabody, MA, and grew up in Dorchester, MA. He served in WWII as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force on B25 bombers. George graduated from Suffolk University and the New England School of Law. He spent his entire career in the insurance industry, utilizing his law degree to specialize in high-risk policies. George was a member of the North River Community Theater, acting and assisting in many of their productions. He was a licensed amateur “ham” radio operator and enjoyed communicating with other operators from around the world. George was an active member of the St. Mary of the Nativity Parish serving as an Usher for many decades. He was a member of the Scituate Knights of Columbus. George loved spending time at the beach and sailing. He was an active participant of the Scituate Council on Aging. He and his family enjoyed many years of camping. George was loved and will be missed. Thank you to all at Hospice of the South Shore for your loving care.

A visitation will take place on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore.
