Geraldine (Jeri) Cerilli, a longtime resident of Scituate, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 26, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Cerilli, with whom she shared more than 60 devoted years of marriage.
Jeri is survived by her children, Mark Cerilli, Scott Cerilli and his wife Kari, Lisa Duprey, Larry Cerilli and his wife Casey; her sister, Isabel Neal, brother Dana Gleason, sister-in-law Laura Laws; her grandchildren, Melissa Strickland, Gabbie Holland, Katie DeLorey, Nick, Jason, Scott, and AJ Cerilli; her great grandchildren, Joseph, Addy, Averi, Jack, Molly, Marie-Geraldine, and Violet; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born the eldest of seven children, Jeri assumed a nurturing role from an early age, caring for her siblings. Her early years of caregiving shaped the strong, compassionate woman she became—one who remained the heart of her family throughout her life.
Jeri graduated from Scituate High School in 1951, where she was an energetic cheerleader and actively involved in numerous class activities. Her enthusiasm, energy and school pride were evident in everything she did, and she formed lifelong friendships during those years.
She was a proud Air Force wife and a devoted mother of four, embracing the adventure and challenges of military life with strength and grace. While stationed in Riverside, California, despite being far from her roots in Scituate, she filled her home with the comforts of family traditions. Her resilience and dedication supported her husband’s service and helped shape a close-knit family.
In 1972, Jeri and Joe moved back to Scituate with their four children, settling into the house where Joe was born. With dedication and hard work, they restored and renovated the property together. The home became a true reflection of their love, commitment, and the life they built.
Jeri had a deep appreciation for nature and found joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid gardener, she took pride in nurturing plants and flowers, creating beautiful outdoor spaces. She also enjoyed decorating her home with unique treasures she discovered in local shops. Her home was always a place where family could find peace, relaxation, and comfort.
Jeri found tranquility and inspiration in the beauty of the ocean, whether watching the sunrise at the lighthouse, strolling through the harbor, or searching for seashells. Scituate was more than just her home; it was the backdrop for a lifetime of cherished memories.
Above all, Jeri treasured time spent with her family. She was the heart of every gathering, bringing everyone together with her generosity and love. Whether hosting holiday celebrations, summer cookouts, or simply chatting with family on the porch, she created an atmosphere of warmth and joy. Her greatest happiness came from keeping her family connected, leaving behind a legacy of love that lives on.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, followed by a service at the funeral home at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at Cudworth Cemetery, Cudworth Road, Scituate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her name. Tend to a garden, gather with loved ones, or simply share a moment of joy in honor of Jeri’s beautiful life.
