

James was born and raised in Roxbury. He was the son of Eguisto and Pasqua (Morello) Casali. He graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and shortly after was drafted by the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
For over 50 years he, along with his wife, owned and operated a grocery store. His first store was on Dudley Street in Dorchester until a fire destroyed the building. He then opened Casali’s Market on Adams Street in Dorchester where he worked long hours, 7 days a week for many years. He had many loyal customers and knew everyone’s name. He was very generous and caring. He helped many people over the years.
He had many hobbies. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking and made many fine pieces of furniture for his children and grandchildren. He loved to cook and was known for his homemade pasta and sauce. He enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and Foxwoods. He was a big fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots.
He is survived by his 5 children: Rosemarie (Rosario) Rabuffetti of Kingston, Maryann (William) Foley of South Weymouth, Paul Casali of Scituate, Lorraine (Richard) Beaudet of New York, Robert (Erica) Casali of Scituate. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Lisa Bethoney of Halifax, Kristen Souza of Hingham, William Foley of Norwell, Sean Foley of Weymouth, Kerry Foley of Weymouth, Erin Nelson of Scituate, Megan Foley of Weymouth, Richard Beaudet of Colorado, Matthew Beaudet of New York, Connor Beaudet of New York, Holly Akikie of Stoughton, Bella Casali of Scituate & Noelle Casali of Scituate and 10 great grandchildren: Logan, Landon, Wyatt, Ryder, Atley, Seamus, Bryn, Reagan, Austin & Quinn. He was a proud Dad, Grandpa & Pops.
James was predeceased by wife Mildred, son James, and grandson Francis Paul Casali.
His life was one of love and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James was cared for by his son Rob and his wife Erica and the Norwell VNA. His family would like to thank the many caregivers from Norwell VNA, with a special thank you to Dana and Anna.
Visitation at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home in Scituate on Wednesday, March 27 from 9:30 to 10:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Burial will be private.
