Jane Elizabeth (Regan) Donovan was born in Forest Hills, MA on March 28, 1945, the second of five children to the late John X. Regan and Katherine F. Regan. She was a graduate of St. Gregory High School in Dorchester where she made some of her most cherished, lifelong friends. She attended Stonehill College.
Jane loved her family and friends and was fiercely loyal to and protective of them. She had a great sense of humor, loved to sing, listen to music, and to be by the ocean, relishing many visits to Cape Cod. Jane had a big heart and was especially kind, always rooting for the underdog or the vulnerable in any situation. She wrote the most wonderful notes and letters, and found just the right words to express a thought or feeling. Jane once won a writing contest in high school that earned her a trip to Washington, DC. She was active in the community, involved in her kids’ school activities, and she served as president of the Norwell Women’s Club. She also worked as a realtor for many years and opened her own firm, The Hunter Agency in Norwell, MA, to help her clients find a place they could call home.
She met John (Jack) Patrick Donovan at a high school dance in 1959 and were later married in October 1965. They built a life and raised a family together, and were each other’s best friends and rock for more than 57 years.
In addition to Jack, Jane leaves behind her son Kevin Donovan; her son Timothy Donovan and his wife Eve; her daughter Jill King and husband Robin; her grandchildren: Aidan, Ella, Kiley, Owen, Mason and Lola; her sister Nancy Callahan and brother John (Jack) Regan.
Jane was predeceased by her sisters Kathleen McCann and Mary Critchlow.
There will be a private gathering for family and invited guests. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation.
