Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (McLeod) Sellon. Jean was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Mathews of New York.
Jean was raised and educated in Boston and served in the United States Army, in the Women's Army Corp (WAC), enlisting in 1955, in Fort McClellan Alabama.
She was a wonderful mother to her five children and wanted them to grow up in Scituate after a short vacation to Minot Beach in the early 1970’s. She bought a home near Minot Beach with her former husband Robert L. Buchanan (deceased) and loved sharing it with friends and family. Jean is survived by her four children: Robert L. Buchanan, Gregory W. Buchanan, and Laura B. Woodward and her husband Mark of Milton, MA. Jean was predeceased by her son Stephen E. Buchanan of Scituate, MA. Jean is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; Shane, Amber, Jared, Greer and Ian; and a great-granddaughter Crimson Rose.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the wake on Saturday January 27th, 10AM-11:30AM, at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate MA. A Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM will be at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA. Burial will immediately follow Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, Meetinghouse Lane, Scituate, MA.
