

Ribeiro-Jesuina Dina (Daluz), of Scituate passed away peacefully on June 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family, she was 91. Known to her loving family as “Da”, she was the adored matriarch of her large family. Da was an amazing woman with incredible strength and a love of life; a devoted wife; a dedicated mother; a confidant to countless; and passionate storyteller. Da enjoyed entertaining family and friends with stories of the old country and coming to America. She was very proud of her family and their history and felt that it was important to pass it on to future generations. She was a faithful catholic and was known for her daily recitation of the Rosary. She enjoyed music and dancing. She was especially fond of “morna” ballad and would not allow her age to stop her from expressing herself through this traditional form of song and dance. Although she enjoyed returning to her home in Cape Verde for vacations, she never liked being away from her large family and her beloved America for too long. In 1998, with her family at her side, she and her husband, Euclides, became U.S Citizens during an emotional ceremony at historic Fanuel Hall in Boston, MA. The daughter of the late Antonio Jose “Totoy” Daluz and Idalia “Lilia” Veiga Daluz, she was born in Figueira Pavao - Santa Catarina, Fogo, Cabo Verde on December 9, 1918. She immigrated with her family to Scituate, MA in 1968. She worked at Winchester Repeating Arms, North Terminal Division in Hingham, MA for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 71. Dearly loved wife for 64 years of Euclides “KiKi” Ribeiro of Scituate. Devoted mother of Antonia “Rosilda” Veiga and her husband Gregory of Scituate, and Maria “Socorro” Fontes and her husband Miguel of Brockton, Maria “Lilia” Powers and her husband Robert of Randolph, Maria “Elsie” Rampersad and her husband Kenny of Avon, Rosalina “Wawa” Grijalva and her husband David of Abington, Nick Ribeiro of Scituate and Angela “Zilda” Dray and her husband Robert of Scituate. Loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren: Larry, Tommy, Johnny, Greg, Jessica, Kishan, Ana, Melissa, Shalisa, Christopher, Adrianna, Kelly, Dina, Roman, Nicky, Melanie, Alex, Bobby, Melinda and 16 great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Issiah, Giovanni, Giselle, Jesiah, Lazarus, Jiva, Gianna, Gracelyn, Anisha, Ava, Grace, Mylee, Eliana, Kaikua, Zoe. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Loyal sister of Linda Fontes, Aguinaldo Daluz, Zulmira Ribeiro of Brockton, the late Zulmira Fernandes, Maria “Caela” Daluz, Henrique Daluz, Manuel Fernandes Daluz, Filemio Daluz, of Cape Verde and sister-in-law Floripa Ribeiro of Scituate. Da will be forever missed by those who were blessed to have had her in their lives. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, Saturday, June 12th at 11AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 12PM. Interment in Union Cemetery,Scituate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM.
