

He was the son of the late William J. and Mary Ellen (Larkin) Sullivan and the grandson of famed Scituate Irish mosser John Sullivan. He was educated in the Boston Public Schools, graduated from Boston English High School, and attended the Huntington School. He had a long career as a Civil Engineer for Whitman and Howard and for the Massachusetts Highway Department. He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially loved the Red Sox. John was the beloved brother of the late Mary T. Sullivan of West Roxbury and the late Robert L. Sullivan and his wife, the late Rita M. Sullivan, of Scituate. He was the loving uncle of Rita M. Sullivan of Chestnut Hill; William R. and his wife Anne of Andover; Robert L. Jr. and his wife Lynn of Townsend; John R. and his wife Elizabeth of Windsor, ME; Mary Ellen Sullivan of Englewood, CO; and Thomas M. and his wife Caroline of Niantic, CT. He is also survived by seven grand-nieces, five grand-nephews, three great grand-nieces, and two great grand-nephews.
Friends and Family are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, January 28th from 8:30AM to 9:30AM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, SCITUATE, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate, at 10AM. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
