

Joseph T. Jordan of Middleboro, MA died on May 1, 2017 following a brief illness. Born in Pittston, PA, Joe was the son of the late Joseph T., Sr. and Agnes Granahan Jordan. He was a 1952 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston and later attended Harrisburg Area Community College and Elizabethtown College. He was 82.
After serving in the US Marine Reserves and the US Army from 1954 to 1956, he began his career in Pittston, PA with Beacon Loan and then transferred to Roswell, NJ and later to Lebanon, PA. He was named Director of Patients Account for Harrisburg Hospital in 1971 and was as a member of the Keystone Chapter of the Guild of Patients Accounts serving two years as its president. Following his career in Pennsylvania, Joe was named Director of Patients Accounts at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA and then was the administrator of the physicians group at Massachusetts Eye and Ear through 1987. He then became administrator of the physicians group at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH. Joe continued working until recently as a self-employed medical business consultant (Jordan Medical) in Hampstead, NH and Middleboro, MA. His career spanned 60 years and he impacted many colleagues and assisted them in advancing their careers and gaining knowledge of the management aspect of a medical practice.
Joe spent time volunteering as a little league baseball coach in Palmyra, PA and as a member of the of the advisory board at The Church of the Holy Spirit where he served as board president and a lector.
In addition to his loving wife, Judy Jordan of Middleboro, MA, he is survived by son, John 'Jack' Jordan, and daughters, Joanne Custer (James) of Hummelstown, PA and Melissa Webster (Theodore) of Scituate, MA. Joe was most proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly: Christopher Custer (Kellie), Caitlyn Custer, Jordan Custer, Rachael Webster, William Webster, Andrew Webster and Brandon Jordan. In addition, Joe is survived by his brothers, Leo Jordan, Esquire (Carla) of Wheaton, IL and Msgr. John Jordan of Elmhurst, PA and sisters, Maryclare McHugh of Chesterfield, MO, Mary Agnes Jordan, PhD (Robert DeLaurenti) of Indio, CA, and Maureen Wentzel (James) of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was preceded in death by sister Anne Marie English. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom have wonderful memories of this charismatic, loving man as does anyone who had the fortune of meeting him.
Relatives and friends can visit between the hours of 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will take place following visitation at 11:00 a.m. St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, MA.
