Devoted husband of 54 years to Mary J. (McLarey).

Son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Cook) Slater of NJ.

Joseph served in the US Navy. Joseph worked for the Town of Scituate for 27 years. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Loving father of Laurie Eldon and her husband Charles of Waterville, ME, Norma Foster and her husband James of Pembroke and Joseph Slater and his wife Carlotta of Scituate.

Proud grandfather of James Schram, Laura Eldon, Priscilla, Sarah and Rebecca Foster, Marykate, Joseph, Kristen, and Lesleigh Slater.

Former son-in-law James Schram and daughter-in-law Tammy Slater.

Brother of James Slater of NJ, Margee Rex of GA, the late Hazel, Norma, Robert and Elva.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, Jan. 7th at 4PM followed by a funeral service at 7PM in the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. Burial will be private.
