Judy was born in Cohasset, Massachusetts, a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln and a long time Stetson family member. She graduated from Scituate High School and the Katherine Gibbs School. Judy also attended Northeastern University and was the first female trader on the Boston Stock Exchange.
In 1963 Judy married the love of her life Henry C. Appleton. Judy and Henry adored and supported each other through thick and thin. Judy worked as Chief Financial Officer of Sunrise Systems, the company founded in 1976 by Henry and his partner Paul Miller. After decades of very successful operations Judy and Henry retired from Sunrise Systems in 2014.
Judy’s greatest devotion was to her family and faith. In addition to Henry, she is survived by her sister Letitia Larson of Norwell, Massachusetts, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Judy loved Saint Mary of the Nativity Parish and enjoyed entertaining and travel with Henry to Cape Cod, Cape Breton Nova Scotia, Florida, Bermuda, Saint John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands. They were often joined by nephews and nieces to celebrate on far off beaches in paradise.
A wake will be held from 3-7 pm on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Richardson- Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Saint Mary of the Nativity Parish, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, Massachusetts. Burial at Mount Hope cemetery will be private.
