

SCITUATE - Kenneth R. Skinger PE, Esq. unexpectedly was welcomed into the loving arms of our heavenly Father, on July 25, 2023, at the age of 82. He was the loving husband of Valarie M. Skinger. Kenneth was the loving father to Robin L. and husband Todd R. Lawson of Plymouth, MA; Todd K. Skinger and his companion Eileen Goode of Powhatan, VA.; and step-father to Christopher J. D’Entremont, Jill A. and her husband Kelly P. Donohue of Winthrop, MA.; and John E. and his wife Margaret O’Sullivan of Plymouth, MA.
Kenneth is survived by his loving grandchildren: Jacqueline and Kateline Lawson; Harper and Hailey Skinger; Julia, Lily and Kevin Donohue and Patrick and Norah O’Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte E. DeBoer of Newington, CT, his sister- in- law, Carol Skinger of West Hartford, CT. and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Leonard D. Skinger, of West Hartford, CT. and late wife Maryellen Kernan.
Kenneth was born June 18, 1941 in New Britain CT, son of the late Denis L. and Genevieve (Buden) Skinger. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Engineering. Early in his career, Kenneth was employed by General Electric, which led him to live in many places across the United States. This helped to develop his love for traveling, which he would pursue for the rest of his life. Eventually, he returned to New England as Vice-President at Stone and Webster Inc., in Boston, MA. He also graduated from New England School of Law in Boston MA. and was a seated member on the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, where arbitration was his forte’. After retirement from Stone and Webster Inc., he went on to found his own firm, Scituate Consulting Inc., which he maintained until his death. Kenneth was an active member of many professional organizations, such as Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and IEEE PES. When in his teens, Kenneth earned the Boys Scouts of America’s Eagle Scout status. Later in life, Ken would love to boast about earning that certificate which was signed by Dwight David Eisenhower, President of the United States of America!
The love of his life was his wife Valarie, family and traveling around the world to such places as Austria, Germany, Italy, France, England, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, and China. Being avid sailors, he and Valarie are members of the Plymouth and Red Brook Harbor Yacht clubs. They loved spending as much time as possible on Escape.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A funeral Mass is planned for Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10 am at Saint Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor, followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Meeting House Lane, Scituate.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Valarie requests that family and friends share a special evening out with their most cherished loved one, and raise a toast in Kenneth’s memory.
