Lesley (Scott) Beszterczey, 81, of Scituate, passed away on June 12, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Akos Beszterczey, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen Beszterczey. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Beszterczey, son-in-law Arthur Pearson, and grandson Evan Pearson. She left behind her brother, Michael Scott, sister-in-law Beverly Scott, her niece Lisa, and nephews Mark and Alex.
Born in Ilkley, Yorkshire, England, Lesley was the daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Clapham) Scott. When her family moved from England to Canada at the age of 13, she discovered one of her many loves and talents, horseback riding. Her love for horses translated into a lifelong love of animals and dedication to volunteering for a therapeutic riding organization for disabled children. This was only one of many volunteer and mentorship activities she engaged in throughout her life.
Lesley received her Bachelor's degree from McGill University in Montreal. She went on to teach high school math and volunteered to teach at a home for teenaged mothers.
Later, while adeptly and lovingly juggling the demands of raising young children and with the unconditional support of her husband, Lesley went on to attain two Master's Degrees from Northeastern University (Accounting) and Bentley College (Taxation) in Massachusetts. She became a CPA and was one of very few women at the time in the field of Corporate Taxation. In that capacity, her brilliance, courage, and fortitude enabled her to break barriers and achieve respect, admiration, and professional advancement. She mentored other women in this arena, and also developed strong, lasting friendships. After retiring from her executive position, Lesley went on to manage and revitalize her husband's medical practice.
Lesley was adored and admired by the many people she encountered throughout her life. She was known for her strength of character, her kindness, her quick wit, sharp mind, leadership skills, and her deep love of and commitment to family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed many international travels with their dear friends, Judy and Fletch. At home, Lesley applied her creativity to hobbies including gardening, knitting, and pottery. She was particularly fond of roses.
Lesley lived a full life, touched the lives of many people, and will forever be deeply loved, missed, and remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lesley's memory can be made to the ALS Association.
