

Mark, eldest son of George and Gladys Donovan (deceased) grew up in Belmont MA. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1965. He was a proud defensive lineman of the Belmont Marauder Championship Football Team and earned the highest number of helmet stars for his excellence in defensive play. Along with his teammates, he was inducted into the Belmont Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. He attended Nichols College. Mark was the proprietor of M & S Painting Company, a company he founded in 1975.
Mark Donovan was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Deborah Salois Donovan and their two sons Garret William and Stephen Liam Donovan of Scituate, and his sister, Jeanne Donovan Young of Lynn. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Stephen Donovan of Waltham. His nieces and nephews will dearly miss his sense of humor and fun.
A resident of Scituate since 1983, Mark especially enjoyed walking the Scituate Lighthouse loop and being with family and friends at Egypt Beach. He was an avid sports fan and relished robust political discussions. He was a staunch supporter of rights for the disabled, especially persons with autism.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richardson Gaffey Funeral Home located at 382 First Parish Road in Scituate, on Friday, January 4, 2013, from 4 -8 pm. A Ceremony of Remembrance will be held at Saint Francis Cabrini Church, 27 Hood Road in Scituate, on January 5, 2013, at 1:00 pm.
