Mary Noble Duggan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 23. Born in Jamaica Plain, her family moved to Scituate, MA when she was a young child where she lived the remainder of her 93 years – making her, if not a Native, certainly a Townie. She was a graduate of Scituate High School (’48) and Boston Business School, where she won awards in speed and accuracy for both typing and Gregg Shorthand. Prior to raising her family, she worked for the Archdiocese of Boston and Eastern Airlines, taking the original Greenbush line into Boston each day. She finished her career and retired as an Assistant Vice President at Lincoln Trust Company as the head of Human Resources. She was a lifelong learner, reading several books a week right up until her death.
Her daughter Kathy often referred to her as the original Google – the first source anyone would go to for answers to literally anything and her knowledge of the British royal family was unparalleled! She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being surrounded by fun. Her greatest accomplishments were her beloved children. She leaves behind Tom and his wife Beth of Sandwich, MA, Marie Sorensen and her husband Neil of Scituate, MA, Sean of Chelsea, MA and Edgewater FL, Kathy and her husband Peter Downes of Scituate MA, Marybeth Shea and her husband Peter of Norwell MA and Tim and his wife Erin of Thornton NH. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Matt, Crystal, Sean, Kerry, Colleen, Bridgette, Maeve, Jake, and Emma and her great grandchildren Simon, Harry, Maggie, Scarlett, Frank, Lily, Andrew, Molly, Shea, and Quinn. She also leaves her brother John Noble of Scituate & Dunedin FL as well as many, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas, her parents Charles and Eleanor Noble, and her siblings Charles, Eleanor, Margaret, and Joseph.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29 from 3-7 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home 382 First Parish Road, Scituate MA. Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at 10 am, July 30 at St. Mary of the Nativity, Scituate, MA.
