Mary Keenan, 36, of Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of Dylan Tyrrell, with whom she shared ten beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Mary was the beloved daughter of James (“Jim”) and Judy (Connolly) Keenan. She was raised in Franklin, MA, and was a proud graduate of Bishop Feehan High School and Salve Regina University.
Mary dedicated her career to helping others, beginning with her work supporting adults with developmental and other disabilities. She later brought her passion and commitment to the Expect Miracles Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and patient support. After her own breast cancer diagnosis, Mary became a beacon of strength, hope, and advocacy for countless women facing similar battles. Her voice resonated far beyond her immediate community—she testified before the Massachusetts Legislature to advocate for insurance coverage of fertility preservation, spoke out on Fox25 News, appeared on WEEI’s Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, and delivered a moving keynote at the Expect Miracles Foundation’s premier fundraising event.
Mary will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, boundless compassion, and unwavering love for life and family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the causes she championed with such courage and grace.
She is survived by her brothers, James Keenan and his wife Caley, and Jon Keenan and his wife Kara. She was a devoted and adoring “Auntie” to McKenna, Rory, and Callan. Mary also leaves behind her in-laws, Bob and Helene Tyrrell, and her beloved dogs, Weezie and Willow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org, an organization close to her heart or to a dog shelter of your choice.
