Born in Medford, Michael was raised in Milton and has been a Scituate resident for over 40 years. He is a veteran of the Coast Guard, Korean Conflict. Michael was owner of AF Rich Seafood Company, Boston, Jack and Frank’s Seafood Market, Hingham, and Atlantic Seafood Market, Easton. He was a long-time supporter of N.E. Fish Exchange and helped develop several companies become large wholesale distributors. Michael was a former professional boxer, softball player, and enjoyed deep sea fishing and sports. Always a man for others, Michael's devotion was his love for his wife, his sons and his pets.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Mary, 7 sons; Michael A. Sousa and his wife Deborah of Marshfield, Patrick F. Meegan and his wife Yuko of Anchorage, AL, Michael P. Meegan and his wife Rachel of Walpole, Robert G. Meegan and his wife Michelle of Lakewood Ranch, FL, George P. Meegan of Holbrook, Robert G. Goodwin and his wife Jodi of Hingham, and Gregory C. Shinney and his wife Amy of Scituate, a brother; Robert Shinney and his wife Ruth of Vero Beach, FL, 13 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mathew P. Sousa, and siblings; Frank, Jack, and Charles Shinney, Elizabeth Olive, Kathleen Walker, Jean Carr, and Anne Wallace.

Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Thursday, January 3rd at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10AM. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be from 4-8PM on Wednesday.
