On 02/13/2026 Nancy C. Coveney, 93, entered into eternity as she fulfilled her wonderful and remarkable life’s journey.
Born Nancy Cutting on January 19th, 1933 to Ralph H. & Amelia Cutting (D’Arcangelo) in Waterville, Maine. While growing up in Waterville she met the late Teresa (McGowan) Heavey “Aunt Terry”. Nancy and Terry shared life's milestones, raising their children and 80 plus years of friendship.
Nancy attended and graduated from Brown University, class of 1955. She then received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, while attending Brown University, Nancy also met her husband the late Richard (Dick) Marean Coveney with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until "drifting apart".
In 1961 Dick and Nancy found what would be a “family home” in Scituate, Massachusetts. As a family, they all enjoyed the many things Scituate had to offer. Most memorably Minot Beach, their boat club membership and sailing on the family sailboat the "Araña”. Nancy was a founding member of the Scituate Arts Association at the Ellis House and, then its Gallery in Scituate Harbor. Her SAA involvement and many resulting friendships were an important and integral part of her life. After her children were raised, Nancy and Dick “pulled up anchor” in 1991 and moved full time to their second home on the beach in Hyannis, Massachusetts. There she enjoyed and perfected her greatest talent as an acrylic and oil painting artist. Over the years she created timeless and exquisite pieces, Nancy spent her “golden years” painting and enjoying her Cape Cod residence with family and friends as well as winter stays in Naples, Florida.
Nancy will best be remembered for her kindness, generosity and her tireless dedication to her family. Almost never seen with a frown, one of Nancy's greatest joys was organizing and getting family together for countless holidays and birthdays. Her other joy in her "Yaya" years was her time spent with her beloved Grandson; Anthony (Tony) DoCurral of Scituate, MA who survives her. "Yaya" treated him as one of her own, watched him grow and learn to windsurf while spending over 15 years of summers tending to him. They shared a bond and unconditional love that will last for eternity and beyond.
Nancy is survived by her Daughters Kymm A Coveney of Barcelona, Spain and Robin E Coveney of Scituate; her Son Christopher C Coveney of Boston, MA; and her grandchildren Zaida R Fernández-Coveney and Julia Calventus-Coveney of Barcelona, Spain.
Living such a full and tenured life she was predeceased by almost all of her close friends and relatives, including her beloved parents Ralph and Amelia. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday February 28 2026 from 10am-12pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate followed by burial at Trinity Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scituate Arts Association and Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod.
