She was born Nancy Marie Gibbons in Newton, Mass and attended Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart from first grade through high school. She spoke often and fondly of her time there and remained friends with several of her fellow students her entire life. She attended Newton College and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School.
She married husband David in 1956 and settled in Scituate where within a few years she was a mother to three children, Jim, Jane & Deborah. In addition to raising her children, she volunteered for many organizations including south Shore Hospital, the International Friendship League and Sunlight House for the Blind. When the children were older, she obtained a degree in Gerontology and became an Administrator at several nursing homes including Norwell Knoll.
In their retirement years, she and David moved from Scituate to Stowe, Vermont where David pursued his passion for skiing and Nancy sang in the church choir and volunteered at Helen Day Art Center. Later, when David was himself diagnosed with Parkinson’s, they moved to Baltimore to be near their daughters where Nancy pursued her passion for gardening in the local Garden Club.
Nancy was pre-deceased by husband David, her brother Bob and sister Ruth. She is survived by son Jim and his wife Nydia Gaffey, daughter Jane Oshinsky, daughter Deborah Hynson and her husband Bob, grandchildren Monique Reno-Gaffey, Alexandra Oshinsky, Samuel (MaryJane) Oshinsky, Ara Oshinsky, Adam Hynson and great grandson Russell Oshinsky.
