Nancy Trecartin Marvel

She was born to Natalie (Pohlé) and John Trecartin in Montclair, New Jersey on October 31, 1918. Nancy graduated from Beaver College in Glenside, PA and Montclair Art School.

She was married to Andrew Marvel, who predeceased her in 1995. They lived in North Caldwell, NJ before moving to Chilmark, MA in 1971.

Nancy was an award winning watercolor artist, who participated in many art shows on her beloved Martha’s Vineyard. She was a long term volunteer at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, an avid birder and gardener.

She leaves her daughter, Christine Marvel Hotarek of Scituate, MA and her son Andrew Marvel of Weston, MA. She is survived by her five grandchildren, Michael Hotarek of Norwell, MA, Amy (Hotarek) Garber of Canton, MA, Stephanie (Marvel) Allison of Cohasset, MA, Jenna Marvel of Boston, MA and Julia Marvel of Weston, MA. She also leaves four cherished great grandchildren, Kyle and Katherine Hotarek of Norwell, MA and Andrew and Paige Garber of Canton, MA. She also survived by her brother John Trecartin and family of Montville, NJ.

There will be a celebration of her life on Martha’s Vineyard in the late Spring.
