Nancy was born on February 17, 1933 in Fall River, Massachusetts. She grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts and graduated from Somerset High School in 1950 and continued her education at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1955.
Nancy is survived by her children: Damon P. Rivard Jr. (Wife, Pattie) East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; Heidi Rivard Croan (Husband, Keith) Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Todd H. Rivard (Wife, Sue) Charlotte, North Carolina; Kristen Rivard Molloy (Husband, Chris) Norwell Massachusetts and her Grandchildren, Tyler, Jason, Connor (Partner, Laina), Devon, Stephanie (Husband, Austin), Shane and Hannah. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with two God Children.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison W. and Helen C George; her sister, Betsy Latimer; her brother, Harrison W. George, Jr. and Damon P. Rivard Sr.
Scituate, Massachusetts became home for Nancy in the early 60s where she raised her family. She was a beach lover and often found herself spending weekends at the Spit. Nancy loved to entertain and was often heard inviting visitors to stay for dinner. The holiday season was filled with Nancy’s famous Christmas Cookie trays that she would gift to friends and family. She was dedicated to her favorite job of being a Mom. You would often find Nancy at her children’s sports and activities in her Wood-Paneled Chevrolet Station Wagon.
It is hard to see a tennis court or a garden without thinking of Nancy. She loved her time playing doubles at the Scituate Tennis Club where she met lifelong friends. She was also an active member of the Scituate Garden Club where her favorite task was planting and caring for the seasonal window-boxes at the Scituate and Greenbush Post Offices with her good friend, Janice.
Nancy was also a student for life, as evidenced by her keeping her Nursing License current with the South Shore Nurses Association and she was never far from her bandage scissors which were frequently found in her purse, even at TSA check points. She also loved attending the Scituate Adult Education classes, even if we learned that knitting might not be included as one of her favorite things.
Nancy would want all of us to remember her as someone who lived her life independently who always thought of others. She found beauty in quiet moments and bringing her loved ones together through acts of kindness. If so inclined, pass along her kindness through to others with a kind word or simple gesture.
Interment will be private and a Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the Scituate Maritime Center, 119 Edward Foster Road, Scituate, MA 02066 at 12:00 Noon.
