Born in Boston to Elliott K. Slade and Margaret C. Henry Slade, she was raised in West Roxbury and attended Girls Latin School and Albertus Magnus College. For 30 years she taught elementary school in Hingham and, upon retirement, became a licensed real estate agent. She loved all living creatures, especially her dogs Teddy and Molly. Her oceanside home brought much joy both for entertaining as well as swimming daily well into her 80’s. She had a heart full of compassion and volunteered (with Molly) at Life Care Scituate, drove the Scituate Council on Aging bus and tutored at Friendship Home. She was an avid walker, cyclist, moped rider and skier. Her passions included buying and selling property and she owned homes in Sandwich, Chatham, Quincy, Barnstable and Weymouth. For a decade she owned and operated the Wishing Well Motel in Harwich. She was known to be a fierce negotiator. She was an ardent reader and daily worked to expand her wide-ranging vocabulary, being a stickler for grammar.
Norma was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, Elliott K. Slade Jr., and is survived by her daughter, Marion Reed, and son-in-law, Graham Reed of Hull, MA, as well as grandson, Colin T. Reed of Washington D.C. and his fiancee Andrea Woods, and granddaughter, Carolyn Reed Kilby and her husband, Brandan, of Stanardsville, VA. She is also survived by her nephews, Elliott K.
