Paul E. Blanchard

Paul attended Scituate schools and graduated from Northeastern University. He worked as an Athletic Director and teacher at South Shore Vo-Tech in Hanover for 35 years where he coached basketball, baseball and soccer. Paul was a union carpenter during the summers and worked on the first re-shingling of Lawson Tower and also helped build the N.E. Aquarium. He was instrumental in bringing soccer to the South Shore, and was the founder of the Scituate Soccer Club, the South Shore Soccer Camp, and a cofounder of the South Shore Sports Center in Hingham. He was an avid golfer and a member of Scituate Country Club for many years.

Devoted father of Paul F. and his wife Lisa of Dover, MA, Andrew J. and his wife Heidi, Matthew S. and his wife Colleen all of Scituate and Peter E. and his wife Elizabeth of New Bedford. Brother of Mary Leary of Medfield, Frannie Heffernan and Jim Blanchard both of Scituate. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate on Tuesday, January 25th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity, Scituate at 10AM. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4PM-8PM.
