Peter Danbridge, of Boston, passed away on February 25th at the age of 50. He was born in Boston and grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts where he would become an accomplished student. From a young age, he displayed a passion for the stage and by high school, he would perform in many productions, receiving awards from the Thespian Troupe and All State acting awards from the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild. He graduated Duxbury High School in 1986 and continued his education at Connecticut College where he studied theatre under the famed Shakespearean actor Morris Carnovsky. In 1990, Peter received his Bachelor of Arts with honors and went on to pursue the life of an actor in New York City, where he starred in a number of productions. On the stage, he commanded an astonishing charisma, mastering the gamut from Shakespeare, O’Neil, slapstick comedy, and musical theatre; Peter was the quintessential character actor. Both on and off stage, he was an entertainer.
In Boston, he built a career as an executive assistant with the venture capital firm Summit Partners where he worked for over ten years as a highly-valued member of the managerial team. More recently, he joined New Profit, a nonprofit venture philanthropy organization, as an executive assistant with the Learn to Earn Fund, where he made his mark as a consummate professional with an unwavering dedication to his colleagues, workplace, and profession. Wherever he worked, Peter brought an innovative, creative and abundant spirit to all of his endeavors and was renowned for his conscientious work ethic and thoughtfulness. A notorious puns-man, he touched all who knew him with his outrageous humor, drop-dead wit, astounding talents, and an unparalleled sense of occasion. In addition to his theatrical talents, Peter was also a gifted writer, illustrator and had a passion for crafts, often hand-constructing celebratory gifts.
Peter was a devoted and loving son to his mother, Helene Simpson of Duxbury. He is survived by Helene, his father Robert Simpson, his brothers Theodore and Derek Simpson, his nephew Oliver Simpson, and many loving friends. He was an unforgettable person who will be greatly missed and loved always.
A visitation will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019 from 12pm-1pm. Friends and family are invited to share stories about Peter at a memorial service in our chapel at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which was Peter’s favorite charity.
