

Phyllis Margaret Hession Hallam, 96, died peacefully in Roswell, Georgia, on March 15, 2017, with her family by her side, following a brief illness. Phyllis was born in Calais, Maine, to William J. Hession and Georgia V. Culliton Hession on September 23, 1920.
She was raised in the Boston suburbs of Arlington and Scituate. Phyllis was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs School of Boston and worked professionally much of her life. Noteworthy was her employment at M.I.T.; American Academy in Athens, Greece; and the Alabama Homebuilders Association. During her lifetime she travelled extensively with her family, living in Tokyo, Japan; Athens, Greece; and multiple U.S. states. Upon retirement she lived with her husband at Lake Martin, Alabama, and Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The oldest of six children, Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Colonel Philip Glendon Hallam; her brother, William J. Hession, Jr., and her two sisters, Barbara Anne Hession Gaughan and Georgia C. Hession Flanagan.
Her two sisters, Mary Louise Burke of Simsbury, CT, and Shirley R. Hendrickson of Scituate, MA, survive her. Phyllis is also survived by her daughter, Linda H. White of Westerville, OH; Philip G. Hallam, Jr. and his wife Judy, of Meriden, NH; Thomas W. Hallam, II and his wife Ava, of South Dartmouth, MA; William J. Hallam and his wife Susan, of Roswell, GA; and Stephen C. Hallam and his wife Debbie, of Jacksonville Beach, FL; along with 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation to take place Saturday, March 25, at 12:00noon – 2:00pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA. Funeral Services to be held at 2:00pm from the funeral home and burial services will immediately follow.
