Richard “Dick” Martin Legg– 86, of Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 24, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Senior Legg, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage before her passing in 2018. Born at home on February 15th, 1940, in Braintree, MA during a Nor’easter. He is survived by his son Barry, wife Tracy, and son Scott, wife Allison, along with five grandchildren Alexandra (Alex), Aliza, Samantha (Sammy), Garrett, Elizabeth (Lizzy) and his god son David. Dick led a full life of family first with Marilyn involved/leading in many of Scituate’s social organizations along with all of the of the boys’ sports, especially their football. Dick passes as a devout loyal Free Mason and Shriner. Dick worked the vast majority of his career with Calhess /Chapman Waterproofing. He traveled every back road of New England to work on our road’s bridges. His travels resulted in the whole family learning and seeing all of New England. As he drove, he knew about every town and could tell the stories better than Chronicle. The final testament to his career was ensuring he waterproofed the Ted Williams Tunnel for all to use for decades to come.
A visitation will be held from 10-11am on Friday August 28,2026 at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts. Burial will immediately follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West St, Braintree, Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Through the years of Marilyn working at Thayer Academy both Marilyn and Dick became part of the Thayer academy family and were immersed in the everyday activities for decades. In lieu of flowers, to continue their presence at Thayer Academy forever donations in Richard’s memory can be made to the Marilyn S. Legg Fund at Thayer Academy.
