

He is survived by his three children; Michael B. Young of Scituate, Elizabeth Howley and her husband, Jeffrey of Millis, and Brian D. Young of Quincy; grandchildren Tyler and Conner Young, Carter and Brooke Howley; brothers Donald and Jeffrey Young of Scituate, former wife Marjorie A. Young of Scituate and dear friend Meredith Emmons of St. Croix.
A 1959 graduate of Scituate High School, upon graduation he served with the US Navy before settling down and raising a family in Scituate.
Dick was a master welder who had worked in the Quincy Shipyard and for Procter & Gamble. He was adventurous in retirement, spending much of his time in St. Croix, USVI and was a 20+ year member of AA. His escapades included skydiving, kayaking, camping, riding motorcycles all over as far as the Outback, all well into his 70s. Above all else, Dick was known for his generosity and quirky sense of humor.
Visiting Hours will be on Thursday, July 16th from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate.
A funeral Mass will be on Friday, July 17th at 10 AM in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Burial will be private.
