

Rocco A. Toto, 88, of Cohasset, formerly of Hingham, died of a sudden illness at South Shore Hospital on January 8, 2023. He was born on August 27, 1934, in Boston and was raised in the North End and Medford, MA. He is the son of Italian immigrants, the late Felice and Elvira Toto. Rocco is predeceased by his wife, Beverly A. (Burns), Toto.
He served in the US army in the ’60s at Ft. Dix, NJ. When he requested to serve closer to home, he was sent to Germany. After his discharge, he finished his education at UMass, Boston majoring in Math. He retired in 2000 after a 30-year career as a civilian cost accountant for the Department of Defense Logistics Agency at the Annex in South Boston. Rocky specialized in digging deep into DoD contractors' numbers that the suppliers were bidding (or billing) to find discrepancies or overcharges.
He has been a member of the Kiwanis since 1984. Rocco spent the last four years of his life living in Cohasset at Sunrise Senior Living. He loved his life at Sunrise. An Avid reader of non-fiction history and biographies, he spent his days reading. His doctor described him as “simply content.” The staff at Sunrise adored Rocco, who never had a complaint and was “a real gentleman.”
Rocco is survived by his younger brother Anthony M. Toto of Medford. As well as his nieces and nephews, the Harrington family of Scituate, Sharon, Mark, Brian, Rick, Suzanne Mullarkey, Tracy Kiddie, and Jennifer Toto of Medford, and many additional great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection of Lord Church, 1057 Main St, (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 10 am.
