Roseanne was born in Brockton and moved to Scituate in 1942. She was employed at both Riddle’s Food Mart and Hennessey News for the past forty years, always enjoying her co-workers, local residents and summer guests, sharing the news of the day. Roseanne’s greatest passion in life was spending time with her family. She was a loving and giving woman who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Roseanne was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Caplice) Kane and her niece, Jennifer Lynn Kane.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years James “Jimmy” McCarthy II, her sister Dorothy Kane of Scituate and her brother John Kane and his wife Joyce of NJ; her daughter, Rosemarie Amendola of TX; her daughter Kathy Shmaruk and her husband Rick of RI; her son Michael McCarthy of PA; her daughter Elizabeth (Tish) Scott, and her husband Donald of Abington; her son James “Jimmy” McCarthy III and his wife Kathleen of Scituate; and special friend, daughter in law, Ellen (Butler) McCarthy of NC. Eight grandchildren; Matthew Amendola, Danny Amendola, Greg Holmes and his wife, Kim, Jesse Holmes and his wife, Crystal, Lindsey McCarthy, Jaclyn McCarthy, Lisa Marie Scott, and Andrew Scott. Step-grandson, RJ Shmaruk. Five Great Grandchildren; Luca Amendola, Paige and Charlotte Holmes, Colin and Kylie Holmes. Step-great grandsons, Jacob Shmaruk and Jaxon Shmaruk. Two nieces, Kimberly (Kane) Trojanowski and her husband Jeff; Kristin (Kane) Cassidy and her husband Frank; Three Great Nieces and a Great Nephew, Julia and Anna Trojanowski, Jackson and Emerson Cassidy. Her cousins; Barbara and her husband Robert Doughty; Richard (Dickie) Hussey; and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 9-10:30 AM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate. Interment to follow at Cudworth Cemetery.
