Shirley Louise Fitzgerald

Shirley L. (Yuhas) Fitzgerald - 92, of Arlington, formerly of Scituate, passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading surrounded by her family on June 20, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Fitzgerald.

Born in Hammond, Indiana to the late Michael and Mary (Mazak) Yuhas, Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Purdue University. As a young woman, Shirley moved to the Boston area where she started her career as an administrative assistant to the President of the Boston Bruins. Little did she know it would be where she would meet the love of her life and future husband, Tom. She then went on to work for the Hingham District Court, AIDS Action Committee and also volunteered many hours as an English language tutor in the Asian community of Boston. Shirley led a full life filled with many adventures but above all, she was loved and admired by those who knew her.

Devoted mother of her son Brian T. Fitzgerald and his wife Ellen of North Andover.

Cherished grandmother of Alexander and James.

Loving sister of the late Michael Yuhas and his wife Catherine of South Bend, Indiana and Thomas Yuhas of Clearlake, California.

A graveside service will be held at 12 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Avenue, Scituate.
