Susan Narlee of Scituate, MA passed away peacefully on August 28th at the age of 75 after a long illness. Susan was born in and raised in Scituate, where she spent most of her early life, with the exception of three and a half years spent in Saigon, where her father was working for the World Health Organization.
She graduated from Scituate High School in 1968. She attended the University of Massachusetts’ Stockbridge School of Agriculture, graduating with a degree in horticulture in 1972. After graduating college, she returned to Scituate and worked at Kennedy’s Country Gardens in Scituate for 8 years. In 1980, she pivoted her career path and became a budget analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, from which she retired in 2006. Susan lived in Sharon from 1988 until 2015.
Susan will always be remembered by her family and friends as someone who was kind and gentle and always willing to lend a hand to people. She also loved and marveled at all aspects of the natural world and was most happy when near the seashore in Scituate.
She is survived by her son Benjamin Narlee of Sharon, MA, brothers Alden Wells, Blair Wells, and sister Hilary O’Brien from Braintree, Canton, and North Attleboro, MA, respectively. She is predeceased by her parents Lewis F. Wells, Jr. and Gloria Rose Wells of Scituate, MA and Frostproof, FL. Additionally, she is predeceased by her brothers Kevin Wells and Craig Wells of Liberty, SC and Boston, MA respectively.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. A Memorial service will follow, beginning at 4 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
