

Born on April 15, 1947, in Portland, Maine, Sue lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy. Sue graduated cum laude from Salve Regina College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry. While she was at Salve Regina, she met her husband Mike, whom she married in December 1969, after which they resided in California, Scotland, Virginia, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. During this time, Sue shared her passion for learning through her teaching career in Catholic grammar schools across Massachusetts and New Jersey. Sue’s love for teaching was evident not only in the classroom but also in her enthusiastic involvement in after-school activities. She was a devoted supporter of school drama club productions, fostering creativity and confidence in her students. A cheerful and unselfish person by nature, Sue was deeply dedicated to her family.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Mike, her children and their spouses, Timothy and his wife Kate (Marblehead), Jennifer and her husband Ian (Belmont), and Michael and his wife Mary Kate (Lancaster, Pennsylvania), her brothers and their spouses, Richard and his wife Karen (Falmouth, Maine),Charlie and his wife Joyce (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), her grandchildren, Madeleine, Norah, Nicholas, Sasha, Maeve, Michael, Desmond, Beau, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Richard Kennedy and Betty Kennedy.
Sue’s zest for life extended beyond the classroom. While living in New Jersey, she indulged her love of Broadway plays by attending Tuesday matinees—an experience she cherished deeply. Her appreciation for the arts brought vibrancy to her life and inspired those around her. As a grandmother, Sue embraced the role wholeheartedly. She delighted in being the “fun Grandma,” creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love for her grandchildren. Her warmth and playful spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Sue was an active member of St. Mary of the Nativity Parish in Scituate, Massachusetts, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. Her legacy as a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and friend will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate on June 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
