Timothy Knaub

July 15, 1949December 24, 2020

Timothy Charles Knaub- Age 71, of Scituate passed away on 12/24/2020. Born in Sheboygan, WI, he was the son of Selma “Sally” Knaub and the late Gottlieb “Ace” Knaub of Sheboygan, WI. Loving husband to Diane Knaub (nee Hoftiezer). Beloved father to Theresa Gallagher, her husband James of Wilmington, DE, the late Stephanie Knaub Lake and the late Erik Knaub. Cherished grandfather to Delaney and Quinn Gallagher. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Peggy Wagner, her husband Don of Middleton, WI and John Knaub, his wife Kay of Sheboygan, WI.

Tim graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a Metallurgical Engineer by trade. He married Diane Hoftiezer on November 25, 1972 and was a devoted husband and father. He was last employed by Bechtel in Frederick, MD before retiring with his wife to Scituate, MA after longing for a return to the Northeast.

Tim and Diane are known around Scituate, MA for their daily 10-12 mile walks. He was active and energetic and not one to sit down. He enjoyed visiting his family in Delaware to spend time with his grandkids, while getting in a couple of rounds of canasta. Tim had a passion for cars and always owned a great little convertible to take his wife exploring in. He brewed his own beer and enjoyed sharing it with friends and relatives.

At this time services are private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Such a shock to learn about Tim's sudden passing. Tim and Diane were good friends while they lived here in Frederick, Md.We enjoyed many fun times together, especially our yearly Anniversaries which were just a few days apart.
We were inspired by their daily 10 mile walks, but struggled making it to under 3 miles through the neighborhood.
We were sorry they decided to move to Scituate several years ago, but knew they were happy being back with some old friends.
Rest in Peace dear Tim until we meet again!

We are so sorry to hear about Tim. We will always remember Diane and Tim as a very outgoing and hospitable couple. They often hosted parties for the Friends and Neighbors Club in Frederick Maryland. Always willing to be active participants in our neighborhood group , we missed them when they moved after retirement. Prayers for you Diane, and your family. Forever ever in our hearts.

Hello Diane,
You don't know me, but I have so enjoyed seeing you and your husband Tim walking the roads in Scituate together for so many years. You are such an inspiration to so many of us here in Scituate! I have passed you many times while walking, and you both were just so friendly and energetic! Though not knowing your names, this morning I saw his picture in the obituaries and my heart is so sad. Please accept my sincere condolences. Blessings, Gwen

We are deeply saddened by Tim’s passing. He was a wonderful neighbor of ours for almost ten years. Whenever our paths crossed he was ready with a friendly, upbeat and positive greeting. A few evenings we enjoyed his beer and good conversation. We will miss him.

We have been friends with Tim and Diane since 1975 when they first moved to Melrose. We have had many get togethers with Tim and Diane throughout the years at both our homes including the cruises with Ron and Andrea. Timmy's infections smile, good humor and great friendship will sorely be missed!

Dear Tim Knaub Family: This is very sad news indeed. Tim and I lived about a mile apart in Sheboygan and we spent many happy times during our high school years playing poker in his parents' basement and driving around town to the YMCA, McDonald's and along the lake. (Even back then he loved being in a car.) He and I also played youth baseball together on opposing teams. To this day whenever I visit Sheboygan I drive through the old haunts and frequently pass the house of Tim's youth and remember it fondly. His adult life had its share of grief but I am also happy to see it was so very fulfilled as well. May God welcome Tim and may He bless all of you.
