Walter A. Morse, Jr., 54 years old, passed away suddenly on August 29, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1967, to Walter A. Morse, Sr., and Cecelia A. (Nessar) Morse in Hyde Park, MA. He served as a Corrections Officer at the Bridgewater State Prison for over 20 years before retiring and starting his second career. Walter was most recently the Director of a Department of Youth Services facility run by Old Colony YMCA in Taunton, MA, where he supervised a transitional home for troubled youths. He was a stalwart public servant that had a heart of gold underneath a hardened exterior, and that served him well in his role helping troubled youths navigate their way to a successful future. Walter had a unique ability to see through the falsities and find the truth in people, and once he believed in you and trusted you, you had a life-long friend, mentor, role model or wing-man for life who would drop everything to help when needed.
Walter was a devoted and loving husband to Melissa and they built a beautiful life and home together on the South Shore with their puppies Zuma and Zoey. He loved the beach or a pool or a boat with a view and loved to share that with his friends and family. He loved wandering and searching for celebrities wherever his and Melissa’s travels took them which made for some memorable stories and laughs as he would re-tell them in only a way he could. Walter was an avid fan of talent whether it was Kenny Chesney, Tom Brady, Elton John, Sebastian Maniscalco, Barry Manilow, Eddie Murphy, or Queen, his fanhood spanned a broad spectrum of genres and activities, and that was reflective of his childhood experiences and memories as well as the family and friends in his life over the years.
With a bigger than life personality, Walter literally enhanced everyone’s senses when he entered a room. Whether it was his cologne preceding him or the suddenly elevated volume in the room, you always knew Walter had arrived. In similar fashion, his unexpected departure and absence in this life now is felt by everyone who knew and loved him – Walter A. Morse will be sorely missed.
Walter was preceded in death by his father Walter A. Morse, Sr., and his beloved puppies Bella and Roxie. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Marram, his mother Cecelia, his father-in-law Ed Marram and wife Karen Carpenter, his mother-in-law Beverly Marram, his brother John and his spouse Bruno, his two sons Chase and Noah, his adored puppies Zuma and Zoey, and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Walter A Morse, Jr., is being planned with details to be provided at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Bahamas Humane Society (www.BahamasHumane.org).
