

He was born in 1918 in Philadelphia PA; the son of Thomas and Molly Brennan, loving brother of his late loving sisters, Ellen, Molly, and Anne. Loving father of his son William F., Jr., and his wife Mary (Terri) of Scituate; daughter Teresa of Somerville, MA; grandchildren Erin and Kevin Brennan, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill served with honor in World War II, as a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Army, Infantry, 36th Division. He actively participated in the invasion of Sicily, and the battles of Anzio and Monte Cassino. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery, and the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat.
Bill retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an Inspector for the Highway Division after a lengthy career. He and his wife moved to Scituate in the mid 1950’s to raise their two children; he was active in the community as a member St. Mary of the Nativity Choir, C.C.D., and Knights of Columbus. He was a long time member of Scituate Country Club, winning the Senior Club Championship twice. Bill was also a 50 year member and former President of the South Shore Men of Harmony/Barbershop Chorus and Quartet organization.
A funeral will be held from Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Wednesday, September 26 at 9:00AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday September 25, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Nativity Cemetery, Scituate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s name to ‘Catholic Charities’.
