

Ann L. Engstrom, 71, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, at her home. Her funeral service will be held, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering with Pastor Richard Neugebauer officiating. Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. The Ann Engstrom memorial has been established in care of the family. Ann was born May 12, 1936, in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Cliff and Alvira (Buethe) Merwin. She attended school in Torrington, Wyoming and graduated in 1954. Ann met John Engstrom and married June 12, 1955. Ann and John celebrated 52 years together. To this union they had four children. She lived in the Gering area and shared her talents working at Hottels Dutch Gardens, automobile register’s office at Scotts Bluff County Courthouse and the Nebraska State Patrol where she was dispatcher, retiring after 20 years. Ann’s interests and hobbies included traveling and camping with her husband and friends. She shared herself with each of her grandchildren’s births, weddings, baptisms, making flowers for each of their weddings and dresses for their baptisms. Ann took great pride in her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their two dachshunds, Heidi and Mollie. She was very active with her children’s and husband’s activities including softball, baseball, Boy and Girl Scouts and was John’s number one fan in his fast pitch softball days. Survivors include her husband, John; daughters, Cathy Ehler and Lisa (Scott) Hoffman; son, Doug (Pam) Engstrom; sister, Kay (Gary) Ross; brother, Jim (Bridgette) Merwin; grandchildren, Mikayla (Jarrod) Mansfield, Kelsy (Brad) Rising, Lisa Niegowski, Michael Niegowski, Shawna (Eric) Conn, Lance (Dezzare) Engstrom, Jacob Engstrom, Garett (Emily) Burkey, Colter Burkey, Charity Burkey, Katelyn (Marlon) Okereke, and Andrew Hoffman; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, Tom (Jo) Engstrom and Bill (Harlean) Engstrom. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael John; grandsons, Daniel and Nathanial; daughter-in-law, Cathy; and son-in-law, Kip.
