June 11, 1934 – June 11, 2026
Arlene Mercedes Woodson’s remarkable journey came to a peaceful, poetic close on June 11, 2026. Ninety-two years after her story began in Ortiz, Colorado, she departed this life in Casper, Wyoming, leaving this world on the very same day she entered it. Surrounded by the family she cherished above all else, she closed her life's beautiful chapter with quiet grace. While her departure was peaceful, the nine decades she lived were vibrant, deeply felt, and anything but ordinary.
To know Arlene was to know the true meaning of generosity. She was the kind of person who would give away her last dollar or the very shirt off her back if it meant someone else wouldn't have to go without. Her warmth was contagious, and her smile possessed the power to light up any room she entered. Even more, she had a voice that sang of her love for the gospel, filling the hearts of those around her with melody and grace.
She was a woman of delightful character and spirit. She loved a good game, whether it was Scrabble or Skip-Bo—though, as her family well knows, she was a notoriously "terrible" cheater! Bingo held a particularly special place in her heart. She could often be found at the table, skillfully managing multiple cards at once, her eyes bright with anticipation as she waited for that thrilling moment to shout, "Bingo!"
A woman of profound devotion, Arlene dedicated her life to the care and nurture of her family. Her faith was the compass of her existence; as a dedicated Seventh-day Adventist, she lived out her beliefs not just through her membership, but through a lifetime of quiet service to her congregation and neighbors.
Arlene leaves behind a legacy of love that spans generations. She is survived by her daughters, Roxie Specht (Robert), Rose Brush (Irone Evans), and Nancy Wolcott, as well as her brother, Alvin, known affectionately as Butch. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren—Melissa, Pokey, Tarra, Tammy, Chad, Casey, Mandy, Sheldon, Chester, and Elizabeth—and was blessed with twenty-nine great-grandchildren and forty-one great-great-grandchildren. Arlene has now been reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Leonard; her cherished daughter, Mona (Paul Bairn); and her beautiful son, Joseph, who welcomed her home with joy and open arms.
While our hearts are heavy and we will miss her every single day, we carry profound gratitude for the years we shared with her. She gave us our lives, and she taught us how to live them well. While she will be missed, her light will never fade from our memories. We take comfort in the words of John 14:1–3: "My Father’s house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you." We have no doubt that she’s already found the best seat at the heavenly Bingo hall—with that signature smile, keeping a watchful eye on her cards, and her loved ones, from above.
Services for Arlene will be Friday, June 19 at 10:30 am at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will start at 10:00 am at the chapel. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com for the family.
