

Audrey Ann Keener, 82, of Scottsbluff, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Mitchell Berean Church in Mitchell with Pastors Giles Armstrong and Scott Mathis officiating. The family requests casual attire. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Mitchell Berean Church, Festival of Hope or to Scotts Bluff County Ag Society. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel between 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Audrey was born June 27, 1931 at Minatare, NE to Floyd and Dorothy (McKim) Andrews. She received her education at Victory Hill and Sunflower schools. Audrey married Vernon M. Keener, Jr. February 12, 1950 at First Christian Church in Scottsbluff. They began their farming career in Wheatland, WY and later moved north of Scottsbluff where they farmed, ranched and operated a dairy. Audrey’s specialty was hospitality; she was a wonderful cook and baker and never followed a recipe. She was a member of Mitchell Berean Church where she was in charge of funeral dinners for many years, served as Sunday School teacher, engaged in AWANA, and Ladies Mission group. A member of 3 J Project Club, 4 H, and was very active in the Scotts Bluff County Ag Society and was a charter member of Festival of Hope. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Bjorling, Dr. Hartmann, the hospice nurses, the staff of Heritage Estates and the Cancer Treatment Center for their care. Audrey is survived by her sons: Douglas (Vicki) Keener, Dan (Deb) Keener and Dean (Diane) Keener all of Mitchell, NE; grandchildren: Deana (John) French, Ft. Worth, Texas, Dayna (Troy) Dondelinger, Gering, NE, Dustan (Michelle) Keener, Mitchell, NE, Luke (Stacia) Keener, and Levi (Ashlee) Keener of Gering, NE, and Denton (Jenny) Keener and Kaycee Keener of Mitchell, NE; 8 Great Grandchildren; sister: Ida Mae (Doug) Gross, Redding, CA; brothers: Bernard (Mary) Andrews, and Floyd Andrews, of Casper, WY; brothers-in-law: William Reed, Worland, WY and John Kreman, Scottsbluff, NE; sister-in-law: Leona Keener, Marsland, NE. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, sister Marian Reed, sisters-in-law Virginia Norine, Betty Jo Kreman, Lena Gable and Judy Andrews, and brother-in-law Harold Keener.
