Barbra K. Sterkel

Barbra K Sterkel, age 66, of Bayard, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008, at home with family by her side. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2008, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the High Butte Cemetery at McGrew. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the McGrew Community Center. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Barbra was born August 29, 1941, at McGrew, Nebraska to Lee and Catherine (Bulck) Cleveland. She attended school at District 85 in Banner County, and graduated from McGrew High School in 1960. On July 9, 1960, she married Bob R. Sterkel at Scottsbluff. They farmed north of Bayard. Barb was a member of the Saddle Club, a 4-H Leader and a Master Gardener. Barb enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening and most of all her family. Barb also enjoyed music and sang for many family weddings, funerals, and community functions. Survivors include her husband, Bob Sterkel, daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Gene Sandersfeld of Alliance; son and his fiancée, Billy Sterkel and Amber Kearns of Gering; granddaughters, Hannah Sandersfeld of Alliance and Tiara Sterkel of Gering and her fiancé Andy Nice; brothers and sisters, Roy (Marilyn) Cleveland of Brule, Jack (Nancy) Cleveland of Sheboygen, Michigan, Ida Lou Shaul of Harrisburg; Donny Cleveland of Fairfield, Montana; Larry (Linda) Cleveland of Hyannis, Catherine (Bill) Teppert of McGrew, Jean VanCur of Paxton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbra was preceded in death by her parents.
