Bennie Nagengast, 93, of Scottsbluff, died on December 16, 2011. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Bud Gillespie officiating. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. A memorial has been established to Northfield Retirement Communities Education Fund. She was born Bennie Mitchell in Detonti, Ark. on April 9, 1918. She resided in Benton, Ark, until her move to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1937. After marrying Elmer Nagengast of Howells, Neb. in 1945, they moved to a farm north of Potter where they farmed for 39 years. After retirement, they moved to Scottsbluff. Bennie is survived by her four children, Mary (John) Baldus of Lincoln, Neb., James Nagengast, Dan (Lynn Byczynski) Nagengast of Lawrence, Kan., and Linda Hennessey of Columbia, Mo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
