
Betty June Floyd, 85, of Scottsbluff passed from this world at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE to be with her Lord April 6, 2012. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Church of the Nazarene in Scottsbluff. Interment will be Friday, April 13, 2012 at Bethany, Oklahoma. A memorial has been established to Campus Crusade for Christ in care of her husband at 2100 Circle Drive, Scottsbluff, NE 69361. Betty was born May 22, 1926 at the University Hospital Medical Center in Omaha, NE, the daughter of William Walter and Elsie Maude (Shaw) Whitley. She lived in Mills, NE until she was eleven when the family moved to Crawford, NE where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She also earned a degree in Biology at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK while serving as the college nurse and doing private duty nursing. She married Dr. John H. Floyd June 5, 1952 in Putman City, OK. Betty was a member of the Church of the Nazarene most of her life and taught teen Sunday School classes for many years. Her first love was God. She also loved her family, her many friends, pets, home, gardens, and greenhouse plants. She is survived by her husband. Son Marvin D. Floyd, of Centennial, CO, two daughters, Dr. Marla J. Floyd of Shell Knob, MO, and Marcia R. Hoyer of Dexter, MI, a foster son Michial D. Stauffer of Colorado Springs, CO, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, one sister, Lucille Homan, of Sturgis, SD, two sisters-in-law, Jean Whitley, of Custer, SD and Betty Whitley, of St. Petersburg, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and five brothers.
