

Carlos Eduardo Garza, 41, of Gering died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his home. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Willie Coop officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. The Carlos Garza Memorial Fund has been established in care of the family. Carlos was born September 9, 1968 in Harlingen, TX to Juan Antonio and Alicia (Martinez) Garza. He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1990. He married Maricela Alfaro June 24, 1989 in Rio Hondo, TX. They came to Scottsbluff in 2001 and he attended WNCC. Carlos was an entrepreneur and owned his own business. Carlos enjoyed barbequing, fishing, and working with electronic equipment. He loved family activities and was a loving father and husband. He was incredibly generous with his time and talents to others and had a very strong faith in God. He was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation, Panhandle Humane Society, Calico and gave monetarily to DAV and Boys Town. He is survived by his wife: Maricela; sons Charles Edward Garza and Matthew Abraham Garza both of Scottsbluff; daughters: Esmeralda Garza and Grace Joy Garza both of Gering, NE; parents of Harlingen, TX; brothers: Juan Antonio (Sam) Garza, Jr., Killeen, TX and Florencio DeLaRosa, Jr., Harlingen, TX; sisters: Olga Garza, Arlington, TX, Jessica Lee Torres, Erica Lynn Torres and Jacklyn Torres all of Harlingen, TX. He was preceded in death by his grandmother: Olga B. Milstead, uncle Rogelio Martinez and aunt Yolanda Mares.
