

Carol J. Holmes, 66, of Scottsbluff, passed to the house of the Lord, Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 20, 2006, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Linda Battello officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. and on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Carol was born September 23, 1940, in Chadron, Nebraska to Leonard E. and Verna I. (Hodson) Hanson. She attended public schools in Osceola and Ogallala, graduating from Ogallala High School in 1958. She graduated from Chadron State College in 1964 with a BA. Over the years she taught swimming and worked in public recreation. While living in Sidney, she worked with the mentally handicapped in a residential setting. She loved sports of any kind, especially swimming and playing tennis. She was an avid Husker fan as well as Rockies and Broncos fan. Her true passions were family, grandchildren and numerous pets she had over the years. She is survived by her husband, Ray Holmes of Scottsbluff; mother, Verna Hanson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; daughter, Laurie Watts, her husband and four children of Fairfax, Virginia; son, Robert Holmes, his wife and two children of Orlando, Florida; son, Kent Holmes and his wife of Holdrege, Nebraska; son, Sean Holmes; and brother, John Hanson and sister-in-law, Emma Hanson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
