Christine Ann Bloomberg was born on August 10,1951, to George Bloomberg Jr and Betty (Grabenbauer) Bloomberg. Chris grew up in Webster City, Iowa, and began her education at St Thomas Aquinas school in 1956. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1969. Chris loved going to dances in various towns in Iowa. After graduation she attended Pitze’s School of Beauty in Waterloo, Iowa.
Chris ventured out into the world from the small town of Webster City into the city life of Denver, Colorado, and what a culture shock it was. Her sister, Deb, moved with her to Denver and together they explored the city life attending many concerts, seeing all the sites and spending time in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.
She married David Jutz in 1972 and spent the next several years raising their 3 boys, Jeremy, Jason, and Joshua. They spent time in several small towns in Colorado before settling in Sterling, with their boys. They later divorced. Chris spent the next couple decades focusing on raising her sons as a single mom. She was involved with all their sporting and other events, cheering them on. She loved to take them fishing at the lake where she would lay out and tan while they fished.
Chris was so proud of her boys. They were her entire world, and she made sure everyone knew that including her boys. Chris also loved watching sports. The Denver Broncos and Michigan Wolverines were her favorites, cheering loudly for her teams at home.
Chris attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, focusing on mental health and substance abuse and helping others. She worked her way through college and graduated with an Associate's Degree in that field.
After college, Chris began her career at Centennial Mental Health, and that is where she found her purpose: working with and serving others in need. Over her years there, she counseled many different groups in the mental health field, helping them with their emotional, psychological, and social well-being. This included parolees, people with intellectual disabilities and people with substance abuse disorders.
While at Centennial, Chris was always learning and achieving new certifications. A list of some of her most important certifications are as follows:
International Critical Incident Stress Foundation
Advocacy for Emergency Services Personnel Therapy Dogs Inc - Pet therapy team with Chris and Layla her pet therapy dog
Criminal Conduct and Substance Abuse Treatment
Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change
Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor Specialist, Level III
Chris retired from Centennial in 2016.
Chris moved to Gering, Nebraska, in the spring of 2020, to be closer to her sisters, Deb and Mary Beth. Her love of music brought her the greatest pleasure, and she attended many concerts and rocked to all kinds of music. She enjoyed exercise and walked daily.
Chris had a strong faith in God. She meditated and prayed daily to be closer to our Lord. She belonged to several congregations thru out her life and reveled in her spirituality with our Lord and Savior.
We have great memories of our times together and conversations with Chris. She was deeply spiritual, a free spirit and an avid reader with a passion for reaching out and helping people in need. One of her favorite sayings “Onward and Upward” remains in our hearts.
Chris is survived by her sons Jason Jutz and Joshua Jutz, three grandchildren, and siblings Brian, Deb, Mike and Mary Beth.
She was preceded in death by her son Jeremy Jutz.
