Delbert was a hero in my opinion and was highly esteemed by his classmates at Bayard because of his perseverance in spite of his physical challenges. He was a wealth of information about Bayard's history and will be missed at our class reunions. After sitting at the feet of Jesus for awhile I imagine him running, climbing trees, playing sports and enjoying the new physical freedom he deserves. RIP Delbert!

I got to know Delbert when I was in high school in the early 70s. He worked at the Mobil station in Bayard, and I would go there to get flats fixed and sometimes just to say hi and visit with him. I admired Delbert for his work ethic, and his ability to break down tires, do mechanic work and accomplish so much else in spite of his physical limitations.
I lost track of him when I went away to college, and during the time I lived in Missouri, but I will always remember his cheerful attitude, and how he loved to laugh. What an inspiration!

Well Del, we have been buddies well over 50 years and already I miss the places we've been and the fun we had. My heart reaches out to his family. May we reunite in God's house.
