“Dee” was born April 6, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Alvin and Thelma (Kizzire) Langhofer. Dee was a lifelong resident of Bayard, NE. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1961. She worked for United Telephone in Scottsbluff as an operator for 28 years and at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard as a CNA until the time of her brain aneurism in August of 2014, working the night shift since she was 18. She enjoyed her time working at the Villa with friend Geri, always wearing matching scrubs and providing the best of care to the residents.
She spent her free time as a seamstress for many people and events in the Valley. She is responsible for some of the best looking Show Choirs, Drum Majors, and Flag teams in Nebraska from Hemingford, Mitchell, and Bayard. She was always willing to help her daughters’ performing groups whether she was performing or directing. Dee cared for her mother and dad providing all of their health care during their illnesses, never thinking of herself...that's just how she was...generous.
She dearly loved her daughter and her son-in-law. Her greatest love fell upon her grandsons and she would sit proudly at all of their events cheering them on; the bleachers will not be the same without her there. She will forever be with them whether it be on the football field, wrestling mat, or on the stage performing. When she wasn't on the go following Bryce and Braydon you could find her at home, it was where she loved to be most.....sitting in her chair drinking her Diet Pepsi and watching SCI-FI.. many times with the boys and their friends that she held dear as well.
Surviving is her daughter Kimberly (Scott) Wiedeman of Mitchell and Grandsons Bryce and Braydon; Best Friend Geri Buxbaum of Bayard; one brother Norman (Suzann) Langhofer of Golden, CO; niece Sherysue; nephew Gregory both of Golden, CO
Dee's mother Thelma L. Langhofer, father Alivn Langhofer, and grandson Joshua preceded her in death.
